The Wheel of Time Books in Order

by Robert Jordan

An epic fantasy of three village youths swept into a war between Light and Shadow, completed by Brandon Sanderson from Robert Jordan's notes.

About the series

Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time is a fourteen-volume epic fantasy, one of the largest and most influential of its era. Three young men leave their village in the Two Rivers and find themselves swept into the prophesied final battle between the Light and the Shadow. After Jordan's death in 2007, Brandon Sanderson completed the final three volumes from his notes.

Recommended reading order

Read the fourteen main books in publication order, starting with The Eye of the World. The prequel novel New Spring can be read either first or — as many longtime fans prefer — after book six or seven, where it provides useful backstory without spoiling early reveals. Sanderson's three-book finale matches Jordan's tone closely.
