Will Trent Books in Order
by Karin Slaughter
Karin Slaughter's Atlanta-set crime series follows Will Trent, a dyslexic GBI agent with a haunted past, and his partner Faith Mitchell as they investigate brutal cases across Georgia. Several entries crossover with Slaughter's Grant County series through the character of medical examiner Sara Linton.
About the series
Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series is a gripping crime fiction sequence set in Atlanta, Georgia, centered on Will Trent — a dyslexic but brilliant Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent with a troubled past in the Atlanta foster care system. Working alongside his partner Faith Mitchell and medical examiner Sara Linton, Will investigates dark, emotionally charged cases that explore the fault lines of the American South. Sara Linton is a crossover character from Slaughter's earlier Grant County series, and several entries intertwine both casts.
Recommended reading order
Begin with Triptych (2006) and continue in publication order. Readers unfamiliar with Sara Linton will benefit from reading the Grant County series first (starting with Blindsighted, 2001), though it is not strictly required — Slaughter provides enough context within the Will Trent books. The novella Snatched (2012) and the short story Busted (2013) and Cleaning the Gold (2019, co-written with Lee Child) are companion pieces that can be read when they appear in the timeline.
