Patrick Rothfuss's The Kingkiller Chronicle is the story of Kvothe, a legendary magician now living quietly under an assumed name as the innkeeper of the Waystone Inn. Across three days, he recounts his life — orphan, street rat, university student, fugitive — to a travelling scribe, while in the present day the world unravels around him.
Recommended reading order
Read the two published novels in order: The Name of the Wind followed by The Wise Man's Fear. The novella The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a side story focused on the character Auri and is best read between the two main books, though it can be skipped. The third novel, The Doors of Stone, has no confirmed release date.
