J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter is the bestselling fantasy series of all time, with more than half a billion copies in print. Recommended reading order
The seven main novels should be read in publication order — they form a single chronological arc tracking one school year per book (with book seven breaking from Hogwarts entirely). The companion books Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are optional add-ons best read after finishing the main saga.
