Espionage Thriller
Brad Thor (Scot Harvath) Books in Order
by Brad Thor
Former Navy SEAL and Secret Service agent Scot Harvath is America's most lethal covert operator. Brad Thor's ripped-from-the-headlines series is the gold standard of post-9/11 action thrillers, with a new installment almost every year since 2002.
About the series
Brad Thor's Scot Harvath series is the defining post-9/11 American action thriller — a relentless, ripped-from-the-headlines franchise following a former Navy SEAL turned Secret Service agent who becomes America's most lethal covert operative. Thor debuted The Lions of Lucerne in 2002 and has published a new Harvath novel almost every year since, consistently landing on the New York Times #1 spot. The series is known for its technical authenticity — Thor embeds with Black Ops teams for research — and its unapologetically aggressive geopolitical worldview.
Recommended reading order
Publication order is ideal; Harvath's backstory and relationships (particularly with his team and mentors) develop steadily across the series, and continuity matters from around book 17 (Spymaster, 2018) onward, when the novels become more serialized. New readers can pick up almost any of the first fifteen books as a standalone sampler, then circle back to the beginning. The Athena Project (2010) is a one-off standalone featuring a different team and is optional.
