Dark Fantasy

The Witcher Books in Order

by Andrzej Sapkowski

Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter mutated for the job, traverses a Slavic-inspired fantasy world entangled with destiny and politics.

About the series

Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher is a Polish dark-fantasy saga that inspired the bestselling video games and Netflix series. Geralt of Rivia is a witcher — a mutated, monster-hunting swordsman — whose path becomes entangled with a young princess named Ciri and a fiery sorceress named Yennefer, against the backdrop of an invading empire.

Recommended reading order

The recommended order is: short story collections first (The Last Wish, then Sword of Destiny), followed by the five-book main saga (Blood of Elves through The Lady of the Lake). The standalone Season of Storms was written years later but takes place chronologically between the short stories — read it last for maximum effect.
