Science Fiction
Foundation Books in Order
by Isaac Asimov
Mathematician Hari Seldon foresees the fall of a galactic empire and founds a colony to shorten the coming dark age.
About the series
Isaac Asimov's Foundation is the cornerstone science-fiction saga of the twentieth century. Mathematician Hari Seldon develops psychohistory, a statistical science that can predict the behaviour of large populations across centuries, and uses it to plan the Foundation — a colony at the edge of the Galaxy designed to preserve civilization through the coming dark age.
Recommended reading order
Two orders are valid. Publication order starts with the original 1951 Foundation and ends with the prequels — this is how the series unfolded for its first readers, and many of the prequels reward existing knowledge. Chronological order (Seldon's two prequels first, then the original trilogy, then Foundation's Edge and Foundation and Earth) is the order Asimov recommended in his later years. This site lists the books in chronological order.
